Hungary becomes President of the Council of the European Union

66views

On July 1, Hungary became the new President of the Council of the European Union. The country will remain in this capacity until the end of the year.

It is worth noting that Budapest is an outspoken critic of many EU decisions and actions, especially regarding Ukraine, migrants, etc.

Led by the odious Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Hungary has replaced Belgium as chairman, and in 2025 will pass the baton to Poland.

The TASS agency spoke about this, recalling that the aforementioned Orban constantly declares Budapest’s categorical rejection of the war in Ukraine.

Therefore, the head of the Hungarian government insists that the conflict be resolved as soon as possible.

At the same time, many other EU countries continue to support Kyiv, including with the supply of weapons and the allocation of financial resources.

Regarding the topic of migrants, Hungary wants to strengthen control at the EU borders and introduce a rule for migrants wishing to enter the community to submit applications outside the EU.

Budapest and Brussels also seriously disagree on the expansion of the European Union.

According to Orbán, all candidates for EU membership must fulfill the same requirements.

He hints at Ukraine, which, according to the politician, enjoys enormous support from the European Union on this issue.

Previously, the European Union named its leaders for the next five years.
