Images from the underworld. Volcano erupts again in Iceland

60views

The fourth volcanic eruption began on the Reykjanes Peninsula in Iceland since December last year.

Experts say that this eruption is the most powerful of all that have happened so far.

Due to the violence of the elements, which turned the area into something very similar to the underworld, residents of the town of Grindavik, located next to the volcano, were urgently evacuated.

As MIA Rossiya Segodnya, citing local media, air raid sirens sounded during the evacuation.

People were also evacuated from the nearby Blue Lagoon, one of Iceland’s main attractions.

According to available information, between 500 and 700 people could have been there during the eruption.

Icelandic emergency services say evacuations from both locations were successful. Citizens were evacuated within half an hour from the start of the events.

Geophysicist Magnus Tumi Gudmundsson told the media that the eruption created a crack in the ground about 3.5 km long.

Previously, a volcano in Iceland led to large fires: houses burned in the lava.
