In Bulgaria, 10 thousand people died due to errors in vaccination against COVID-19

About 10 thousand residents of Bulgaria died due to mistakes made in the country during vaccination against coronavirus.

The corresponding statement was made by Stoycho Katsarov, the head of the Bulgarian Ministry of Health, foreign media reported.

The minister drew attention to the fact that in the Balkan country, elderly people and patients with chronic diseases were not given priority in receiving the injection.

If these citizens had been vaccinated on time, the mortality rate for this category of the population from COVID-19 would have been significantly lower.

Katsarov noted that among the victims of coronavirus infection in Bulgaria, the absolute majority are elderly people.

In addition, another serious mistake was made in the country when organizing vaccination.

Thus, initially Bulgaria ordered a huge batch of the AstraZeneca anti-Covid vaccine, virtually ignoring effective drugs from other manufacturers.

As a result, supply problems arose, and by the beginning of spring 2021, only 200 thousand Bulgarians had been vaccinated. The total population is 7 million.
