In China, a passenger plane caught fire during takeoff: dozens were injured

A serious incident occurred in China: during takeoff, a passenger plane skidded off the runway and caught fire.

Media reports that the incident occurred with a Tibet Airlines aircraft at Jiangbei International Airport (Chongqing).

It all happened at approximately eight o’clock in the morning local time (about three o’clock in the morning Minsk time) on May 12.

As MIA Rossiya Segodnya citing the Xinhua agency, there were 113 passengers and 9 crew members in the plane.

As a result of the accident, at least forty citizens were injured and were hospitalized.

It is known that the airliner was supposed to deliver passengers to the city of Nyingchi, but during takeoff it left the runway.

Immediately after this, the nose of the fuselage on the left side of the plane caught fire.

Whether there are any dead is still unknown. It is also unclear what led to the incident – the causes of the accident are being investigated.

According to China Central Television, the fire has now been extinguished.

The runway where the incident occurred is closed.
