In Japan, against the backdrop of the Summer Olympic Games, there is an increase in the incidence of COVID-19 coronavirus.

It is known that over the past 24 hours, 12,342 new patients diagnosed with coronavirus were identified in the country. At the same time, the anti-record for the number of infected people per day has been updated for 4 days in a row.

This week on Wednesday, doctors announced 9,576 cases of infection, BELTA reports citing the Kyodo agency.

On Thursday, that figure rose to 10,699 patients. On Friday, 10,743 patients had already been identified.

As for the Japanese capital, 4,058 cases were detected in Tokyo today, while 3,865 infections were reported on Thursday.

Authorities attribute the increase in incidence to the spread of the Indian mutation of the coronavirus.

At the same time, it became known that most of the sick people were young people.

The government does not link the increase in incidence with the Olympics, because… believe that all security measures have been taken to prevent foreign fans from entering the country.

The state of emergency in Tokyo has been extended until August 31, which includes a ban on the sale of alcohol in catering establishments and a limit on the number of spectators at public events.
