In Poland, tracked vehicles ran over two servicemen at a training ground.

One soldier died, the second is in intensive care with serious injuries, Polish media report.

What happened at the training ground in Poland

According to the Polish radio station RMF24, the incident occurred at the ground forces training center in Drawsko-Pomorskie, which has been involved in NATO exercises since the end of February.

The Polish TV channel Polsat, citing the Polish Ministry of Defense, reports that one soldier died, the second is in intensive care with serious injuries.

The victim was taken by helicopter to the hospital, and doctors are currently fighting for his life.

Polish Defense Ministry spokesman Marek Pawlak said that the incident had nothing to do with the NATO Dragon-24 exercises taking place nearby.

At the end of February, NATO exercises with the participation of 3,000 troops from Poland, Great Britain, Spain, Turkey and Albania started at the Drava training ground.

The purpose of the maneuvers is to test the possibility of quickly transporting troops.
