What happened

According to the minister, the cable between Sweden and Estonia was damaged at the same time as the gas pipeline between Estonia and Finland.

We cannot assess what caused the damage, – he said, specifying that the place of damage is in Estonia.

Bohlin also said that Stockholm, Tallinn and Helsinki are working closely to determine the causes of these incidents.

As reported, on October 8, pressure dropped in the underwater pipe of the Balticconnector gas pipeline between Finland and Estonia. Due to a suspected leak, the work of the gas pipeline was suspended.

On October 10, Finnish authorities announced at a press conference that the damage to the gas pipeline was likely caused by external influences. The damage to the gas pipeline is located in the Gulf of Finland, in the economic zone of Finland.

The communication cable between Finland and Estonia, located in Estonian territorial waters, was also damaged.
