The authorities of the Kherson region expect to evacuate from 50,000 to 60,000 residents to the left bank of the Dnieper within a week.

This figure was announced by the acting governor of the region, Vladimir Saldo.

He argued this by saying that if the Ukrainian Armed Forces break the locks of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, the water could reach Kherson itself.

The water in some places will rise by a meter, people there need to be evacuated quickly, – official of MIA “Russia Today”.

He added that the region’s main city is “on a high bank,” but in new areas the water may rise above the foundation level, thereby posing a threat to the stability of houses.

By the way, he also stated that all authorities of the Kherson region – ministries and divisions of the administration – are also transported to the left bank of the Dnieper.

Management for this period will be carried out from the left bank of our Kherson region,” said Saldo.
