Fraudsters stole almost $100 billion from the fund to help the population and business, reports.

The corresponding statement was made yesterday by a representative of the US Secret Service.

A total of $3.4 trillion was allocated for these purposes.

Of these funds, about 3% of the amount was withdrawn through criminal schemes.

Most of the money was intended to pay unemployment benefits to the population.

It has been established with certainty that at least $87 billion ended up in the hands of fraudsters.

After discovering the embezzlement, the United States Secret Service froze $1.2 billion in government funds.

Checks are being conducted to detect fraud in the areas of unemployment insurance and lending.

There are 900 investigations underway across all states. About 100 suspects are in custody.
