In Ukraine, mortality from coronavirus increased by 22% in a week

Over the past 7 days in Ukraine, mortality from the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus increased by 22% compared to the previous week.

According to media reports, 2,307 deaths were registered. This was reported by local media with reference to Igor Kuzin, the chief sanitary doctor of Ukraine.

The official spoke about the mortality rate that doctors record among the population of different age categories.

Over the entire period of the pandemic in the country, more than half of the deaths occurred in the age group over 70 years.

Among patients aged 60-69 years, 29% died.

According to Kuzin, in Ukrainian hospitals today 57% of the beds allocated for those infected with the new coronavirus are occupied.

The increase in new Covid cases over the week exceeded 105 thousand. This is 11% higher than doctors recorded a week earlier.

A red level of restrictions has been introduced in five Ukrainian regions and it is quite possible that the list will be expanded.

Speaking about vaccination, the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Health noted that the country has a reserve of 14 million doses of the vaccine.

More than 6.4 million Ukrainians have completed the full course of immunization. According to the Ministry of Health, almost 14.5 million citizens received the first vaccination.
