61views

It recently became known that official Tehran has requested observer state status in the Eurasian Economic Union.

Please note: Iran has expressed interest in obtaining the corresponding status.

This statement was made by the head of the board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Bakytzhan Sagintayev.

As MIA “Russia Today”, the information was presented during the press approach following the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.

We received the corresponding note on May 27. It will be considered in due course,” said Mr. Sagintayev.

And Deputy Head of the Russian Government Alexei Overchuk drew attention to the fact that certain procedures are provided for obtaining such status.

If Tehran manages to pass them safely, it can receive the requested status, presumably at the end of December 2024, the Deputy Prime Minister noted.

Let us recall that currently the members of the EAEU are Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan.

Three countries have observer status with the organization – Moldova, Uzbekistan and Cuba.

Previously, the former president of Iran will once again become head of state.
