Journalists have learned that United States Vice President Kamala Harris has received the required number of votes to formally approve her as a presidential candidate in the upcoming US elections this fall.

We are talking about the votes of delegates to the upcoming Democratic convention.

And although the country’s Federal Election Commission has received notification that Mrs. Harris will run instead of Joe Biden from the Democratic Party, the Democrats themselves need to formally complete the confirmation of their candidate.

But it is already clear that this is really just a formality, since she received the required number of votes from fellow party members, TASS citing the Associated Press.

The latest reports: by the evening of July 22, US East Coast time, Kamala was supported by 2,538 delegates.

Under Democratic rules, a candidate must receive at least 1,976 votes to be confirmed.

However, these figures are not final – they want to carry out the final distribution of votes and nomination of a candidate at the party convention in Chicago (to be held from August 19 to 22 in Chicago).

And The New York Times, citing the head of the Democratic National Committee, Jamie Harrison, writes that their candidate will be determined based on the results of virtual voting by August 7.
