Next week, the European Commission plans to express its opinion on Ukraine’s potential candidacy for the EU.

A corresponding statement was made by Ursula von der Leyen, who is the chairman of the highest executive body of the European Union.

The head of the European Commission recalled that the organization is currently preparing an expert opinion: it will be provided to countries that already have membership in the European Union.

According to von der Leyen, the executive body is working in this direction “day and night” and will continue to do so.

The purpose of the politician’s visit is a meeting with the head of the Ukrainian state Vladimir Zelensky.

A representative of the European Commission will discuss the application for accession of the Eastern European country to the European Union.

Already next week it should become known whether the European Commission considers it right to grant Ukraine candidate status for EU membership.
