It became known when the Turkish Parliament will approve Sweden’s application to join NATO

Recently, the NATO Secretary General in the capital of Lithuania (a two-day Alliance summit starts in Vilnius today) made an important statement.

According to him, Türkiye agreed to admit Sweden to the military-political bloc as soon as possible.

Now it has become known exactly in what “shortest possible time”. The protocol of reception will be submitted to the Turkish parliament in the near future.

But parliamentarians will not approve it as quickly as expected. This will likely happen during the fall session, as deputies go on vacation this week.

The TASS agency reported this with reference to the CNN Turk television channel, specifying that the autumn session of parliament starts on October 1.

Journalists learned that Stockholm was notified of the specifics of the procedure for passing the mentioned protocol.

So, first, according to Turkish legislation, the document will be presented by the head of state or the head of the Foreign Ministry.

Next, it will be sent to the relevant commission for consideration, after which the issue of approving the protocol will be discussed in parliament.

Following a meeting with Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, NATO Secretary General announced Ankara’s agreement to transfer the document on Stockholm’s admission to the Alliance to parliament as soon as possible.
