CNN has learned when Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky will fire the commander-in-chief of his country’s Armed Forces, Valery Zaluzhny.

The TV channel, citing its sources, claims that the head of state will dismiss the latter by the end of this week.

It is expected that Zelensky will sign a corresponding decree in early February, TASS citing CNN.

The latter notes that Zaluzhny was summoned to the president’s office on January 29, where the Ukrainian leader notified him of his upcoming dismissal.

Zelensky offered the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine another position, but he refused.

CNN’s interlocutors said that Kyiv is considering the candidacies of the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Kirill Budanov, and the commander of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Alexander Syrsky, as the new commander-in-chief.

Budanov, commenting on this information, noted that in conditions of hostilities he would not talk about this topic with journalists.

According to him, today “all sides are using all available means, including waging an information war.”

And Syrsky refused to comment on CNN at all.

Earlier, the press secretary of Zelensky and the Ministry of Defense reported the dismissal of the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
