“It’s called a lot of responsibility”, says Macaé Evaristo about being the new Minister of Human Rights

The new Minister of Human Rights, Macaé Evaristo, said, this Monday (9), that it is a call of great responsibility.

“Dear president, it was with great honor that I accepted your invitation to take over the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship”, wrote Macaé on social media.

Our country has great challenges and this is a very responsible call. We have a lot of work ahead of us and I remain hopeful, with a lifelong commitment to fighting for rights

The statement came in a post by the president on social media in which he congratulated her on her new position.

“Today I invited state deputy Macaé Evaristo to take over the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship. She accepted. I will sign her appointment soon. Welcome and a great job”, published Lula.

The appointment of Macaé, state deputy for PT in Minas Gerais, will take place this Monday in an extra edition of the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU), according to the Secretary of Social Communication of the Presidency of the Republic (Secom).

She will take over the position previously held by Silvio Almeida, following allegations of sexual harassment, which would involve, among other people, the Minister of Racial Equality, Anielle Franco.

The Ministry of Human Rights, Minister of Management and Innovation in Public Services, which combines the two functions.
