Janja arrives in New York before Lula and fulfills a parallel schedule to the president

First Lady Janja Lula da Silva has brought forward her trip and is already in New York, where she will accompany President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) at the 79th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN).

However, Janja has her own agenda and attends a series of engagements. Lula arrives in the United States on Saturday.

This Thursday (19), the first lady attended the G20 Finance Track and Women event, which addressed the search for equality and empowerment of women to build a fair and sustainable world.

On Friday (20), she will participate in the event “Fair, inclusive and anti-racist economies to leave no one behind”, scheduled to take place at the headquarters of the United Nations (UN).

On Saturday (21), he will be at a meeting promoted by the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty at Columbia University.

The following week, in addition to accompanying Lula at the president’s commitments at the UN, Janja will attend, on Monday (23), an event on how women leaders in the financial sector can drive a fair climate transition, also promoting gender equality, and another related to the first ladies’ commitment to early childhood development.

Presidential agenda

Lula arrives in the North American city on Saturday (21). On the agenda in New York, several public statements are planned, such as the Future Summit, which will bring together heads of state and government from the 193 UN member states. He must also speak at the General Assembly and the G20.

On Sunday, the 22nd, the president will participate in the first session of the Future Summit, convened by the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, being the second speaker scheduled to speak. The Summit will be held between the 20th and 23rd of September.
