23views

Former Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida became the 100th Prime Minister of Japan.

The former foreign minister was elected as the new prime minister following voting in both houses of parliament.

As foreign Internet sites write, 141 members of parliament voted for him.

Kishida’s election as prime minister was expected, as he is the head of the party that holds the majority of seats in the lower and upper houses.

Kishida announced a new cabinet of ministers.

Of the 20 ministers, 13 were appointed for the first time.

One of the new ministers is 77 years old, and the youngest is 44 years old.

Hirokazu Matsuno will become the Secretary General of the government.

Only three ministers retained their positions in the government – the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the head of the Ministry of Defense and the former head of the Ministry of Education, who was appointed Minister of Economy.
