The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan has tightened the rules for processing documents for permanent residence for foreigners.

Now foreigners must provide a passport valid for at least 180 days.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan informed about this.

How the rules have changed

It is reported that in order to bring it into compliance with the law, the order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has changed the rules for issuing a permanent residence permit.

Foreigners will now need to provide a passport valid for at least 180 days on the date of application.

To obtain a temporary residence permit, the personal presence of the owner of the property or a person acting on his behalf by proxy, or the consent of the owner, certified by a notary, is now also required.

The address indicated when obtaining a permit must have a registration code.

The department’s press release explains that these measures were taken to eliminate the possibility of registration at non-existent/not related to the applicant addresses.

Let us recall that in January Kazakhstan tightened the rules for visa-free entry and stay of foreigners, including citizens of the EAEU, limiting the permitted period of stay to 90 days during each six months.
