Three Central Asian countries were left without electricity. The shutdown occurred in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

The reason for such a global problem with energy supply was the overload of the transit line in Kazakhstan.

The situation in Kazakhstan

MIA Rossiya Segodnya reported this with reference to a statement by representatives of the Kazakh electric grid management operator KEGOC.

It is noted that at 11 hours 59 minutes (08:59 Belarusian time) there was a “power surge for the 500 kV electricity transit “North-East-South Kazakhstan””.

The result of this was “an emergency division of transit with the repayment of a significant part of the consumers in the southern zone of Kazakhstan.”

The light disappeared in the cities of Almaty, Shymkent, Taras, Turkestan region and in nearby areas.

In addition, power outages occurred in countries neighboring Kazakhstan – Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

Uzbekistan

In Uzbekistan, the Fergana and Tashkent regions, the Fergana Valley, Syrdarya, Jizzakh, Samarkand, Navoi and Kashkadarya regions were left without electricity.

In Tashkent, due to non-functioning traffic lights, significant traffic jams arose on the roads, notes the Central Internal Affairs Directorate of the capital of this country.

In addition, as of the morning of January 25, the metro in Tashkent was not working.

And at the largest and most popular ski resort in Uzbekistan, Amirsoy, passengers are stuck on a cable car – rescuers are currently trying to get them out.

Throughout Uzbekistan, heating, sewerage and drinking water supply systems are not functioning due to disconnected pumping stations.

Kyrgyzstan

In Kyrgyzstan, the capital, Bishkek, experienced the greatest problems. Here, too, the traffic lights did not work in the morning; traffic on the roads was controlled by traffic controllers.

Manas Airport switched to autonomous power supply.

By the way, the cable car with tourists stopped in Kyrgyzstan – this happened at the Chunkurchak resort.
