Kentucky tornado kills 70 people

At least 70 people died as a result of a tornado that hit the US state of Kentucky.

This information was announced by state Governor Andy Beshear on December 11 at a press conference.

According to the governor, a state of emergency has been introduced in the region, and the National Guard has been deployed to eliminate the consequences.

State authorities do not rule out that the death toll could rise to 100.

A series of tornadoes swept across the United States the day before, December 10th. The disaster affected five states: Kentucky, Arkansas, Tennessee, Illinois and Missouri.

As a result of the storm, about 500,000 people were left without electricity.

In Arkansas, 2 people were killed and 5 injured when a tornado struck a nursing home. In Tennessee, the disaster claimed the lives of three people.
