Killed his wife: former Minister of Economy of Kazakhstan Bishimbayev was given 24 years in prison

One of the courts in the Kazakh capital sentenced Kuandyk Bishimbayev.

The former head of the Ministry of National Economy of Kazakhstan was found guilty of murdering his actual wife and received 24 years in prison.

The high-profile case of Bishimbayev

According to the investigation, last fall the former Kazakh minister brutally beat his de facto wife, Saltanat Nukenova.

After this, the woman died.

A trial was launched into the incident. Bishimbayev’s case caused a public outcry.

The former statesman was found guilty. The court concluded that the ex-minister killed his wife with particular cruelty.

Bishimbayev was given 24 years in prison. The man will serve his sentence in a maximum security colony.

It is worth emphasizing that this is not the first sentence imposed on Bishimbayev.

In 2018, the former head of the Kazakh department was accused of accepting a bribe. Then Bishimbayev was given 10 years in prison. However, the ex-official was released on parole.

Bishimbayev headed the Ministry of National Economy of Kazakhstan for several months in 2016.
