John Kirby, National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications, announced the White House’s readiness to supply Kyiv with advanced missile systems.
In his speech, Kirby listed the proposed developments that may soon appear on the territory of Ukraine.
Military assistance
Let us note that last week Washington announced plans to provide military assistance to Kyiv and neighboring countries in the amount of $2.8 billion.
Ukraine will be allocated from this amount:
- $675 million for weapons;
- 2.2 billion for long-term investments and strengthening the security of Ukraine, and with it 18 more “neighboring countries”.
Plans have been reported to transfer ammunition for US HIMARS multiple rocket launchers, 105mm howitzers, artillery ammunition and high-speed anti-radar missiles.
“Advanced” missile systems
Speaking to reporters, Kirby said that the United States plans to transfer advanced missile systems to Ukraine. The official did not say what exactly was planned to be supplied, but noted that we are talking about weapons and equipment that the Ukrainian Armed Forces “desperately need.”
Obviously, artillery, advanced missile systems,” MIA quotes John Kirby as saying.
Russia’s reaction
Earlier, in connection with the supply of weapons to Kyiv, Russia sent a note to NATO countries, and Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov called any cargo with weapons for Ukraine a legitimate target for Russia.
The Russian Foreign Ministry called the latest US plan to supply longer-range missiles a red line that Washington risks crossing with such actions.
