Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba made a statement regarding the upcoming NATO summit.

In particular, he notified the general public that Kyiv received an invitation only to the sidelines of the Alliance summit, but not to the event itself, which is supposed to be held in the Lithuanian capital on July 11-12 this year.

We received an invitation, but not to the summit itself, but to take part in the NATO-Ukraine Council, which will be held on the sidelines of the summit, – diplomat of MIA “Russia Today”.

Kuleba also complained that the military-political bloc still does not have a clear position on Ukraine’s membership.

According to him, some states that are members of the organization are trying to prove that Kyiv should not be invited in order to avoid an escalation of the conflict.

“We are of the exact opposite opinion,” noted the head of the foreign policy department.

He believes that today there are all conditions for inviting Ukraine to NATO.

Kuleba says: if the Alliance “does not make a strong decision” regarding Kyiv’s membership, then a “logic of fear” will reign.

Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced that there are no plans to discuss a formal invitation of Ukraine to the North Atlantic Alliance at the upcoming summit.

According to him, it is planned to discuss in the format of consultations what decisions can contribute to the speedy accession of Kyiv to the organization.
