The head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Alexey Reznikov, said that Kyiv recognizes the impossibility of joining NATO today.
He says that due to the active stage of hostilities, Ukraine will not be able to be accepted into the North Atlantic Alliance.
“We are aware that during the active phase of hostilities, making a unanimous decision regarding Ukraine’s accession to NATO is hardly realistic.”– RIA Novosti, words of Reznikov.
Reznikov also announced Ukraine’s main argument, which can be used during the discussion of joining the alliance.
The minister is referring to the fact that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have a unique set of skills to deter the Russian Armed Forces.
Reznikov wonders what other arguments the world community needs to accept Ukraine into NATO?
At the moment, Ukraine has candidate status for joining the alliance – the picture will become clearer after the July NATO summit.
