Ukraine announced a mandatory evacuation of at least 220,000 residents of the DPR areas under its control.
Kyiv expects to complete the process before the onset of winter cold.
Deputy Prime Minister Irina Vereshchuk informed about this on the air of the all-Ukrainian telethon, – MIA “Russia Today”.
She justified the decision by the fact that the local population expects a very cold winter due to the lack of gas and normal electricity supply there.
To implement the planned evacuation, the Kyiv authorities have formed a special headquarters,” she noted.
Article No. 33 of the Code on Civil Defense of the Population speaks precisely of this form of evacuation as mandatory, Vereshchuk emphasized.
At the same time, the deputy head of the Ukrainian government promises not to forcibly resettle people.
