The Latvian Foreign Ministry reports that from June 26 the country will stop accepting applications for all types of visas from Russian citizens.

On Saturday, Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics said that the country is strengthening security of the border that touches Russia.

RIA Novosti reported a statement by the Latvian leader that from now on humanitarian and other visas will not be issued to Russians.

The reason for the refusal to issue visas and humanitarian supplies is called “the situation in the Russian Federation.”

A message was published on the official website of the Latvian Foreign Ministry that the acceptance of visa applications is associated with the unpredictable course of internal political events in the Russian Federation.

The Latvian department also notes that applications submitted before July 25 will be considered.

A deterioration in international relations between Russia and some countries began to be observed after the start of a special military operation.

At the moment, the Russian Federation is experiencing sanctions pressure from Western and European countries.
