The Lithuanian authorities offered illegal migrants a reward for agreeing to leave the country.
Officially, this is called “motivational payment”. Size for one person – 300 euros.
This was announced on August 7 by the director of the migration department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Lithuania, Evelina Gudzinskaite, TASS agency.
This one-time benefit – in cash – will be given to refugees at the airport before boarding the plane.
According to the director of the department, an illegal immigrant can use this payment only once.
If this person ends up in Lithuania again, he will not be able to apply for benefits, explained Evelina Gudzinskaite.
Some Western media have already calculated that the payments offered by Lithuania are significantly less than the costs of migrants for organizing their delivery to this country.
Thus, some publications report that sometimes illegal immigrants pay up to 10,000 euros for the opportunity to be in Lithuania.
