British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss won the election as leader of the ruling Conservative Party and head of the country’s government.
Tomorrow Truss will replace Boris Johnson as head of government and appoint a new cabinet.

How they voted
Internal party voting for the post of Tory leader and prime minister ended on September 2, and the results were announced today.
Truss received 81,326 votes from the Conservative Party rank and file.
Her opponent, former head of the Ministry of Finance Rishi Sunak, received 60,399 votes from fellow party members.
Truss will become Britain’s 56th Prime Minister and the third woman to hold the position.
Truss’ formal confirmation as prime minister will take place tomorrow at an audience with Queen Elizabeth II.
