How a court in London ruled in favor of Assange

The court gave the United States three weeks to provide guarantees that Assange would be able to invoke the First Amendment to the American Constitution during his trial in the United States. This amendment protects freedom of speech.

The United States must also ensure that the journalist will not be discriminated against because of his citizenship and will not be given the death penalty.

If the United States does not provide these guarantees, Assange will be able to file an appeal; if provided, on May 20 the court will consider Washington’s response and make a final decision on the journalist’s right to appeal.

Assange’s wife Stella criticized the court’s decision. According to her, it allows political interference in the US case.

She called on the US to drop the case and the UK to release her husband.

Earlier it was reported that rioting farmers were holding a protest in central London.
