The UN Security Council is one of the organization’s most important bodies and is responsible for ensuring world peace.
It is made up of five permanent members China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States. Other countries, such as Brazil, are part of the Council on a rotating basis.
“The Security Council needs to expand its composition in both categories of members: permanent and non-permanent,” said Lula.
“Meeting sustainable development goals requires the World Bank and IMF to better address the needs of the global south. This will only happen if developing countries have more space in these organizations”, he added.
