President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva told a group of ministers that he intends to appoint a new head of Human Rights “as quickly as possible”.

The PT member signaled that he wants to announce a name to replace Silvio Almeida this week. The preference is for a black woman.

Today, the three favorites are professor Nilma Lino Gomes, lawyer Soraia Mendes and PT deputy Macaé Evaristo.

Before making a decision, the president intends to consult members of the ministerial team and talk to the listed companies.

Almeida was fired last Friday (6) after being accused of sexual harassment.

He denies the accusations and is now responding to investigations by the Federal Police and the Ethics Commission of the Presidency of the Republic.
