President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) is preparing a round of individual conversations with the .

The first meeting should be with the leader of União Brasil, Elmar Nascimento (BA), later this week. Next, the PT member wants to meet with the leaders of the PSD, Antônio Brito (PSD), and the Republicans, Hugo Motta (PB).

Lula has acted to avoid a split in the allied base that would create the risk of a president of the Legislative House being elected with resentment towards the Planalto Palace.

With the support of the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), Lula is working to launch a single candidacy in the center bloc.

The favorite is still Hugo Motta. But they seek support from PL, from Jair Bolsonaro.

The two have signaled right-wing agendas, such as the amnesty bill. The movement could split the party, which had already indicated support for Motta.

Lula has also been counting on members of his ministerial team to try to reach a common denominator.

The president has recalled past elections that, due to a split in the allied base, generated trauma in the Planalto Palace: Severino Cavalcanti, in 2005, Arlindo Chinaglia, in 2007, and Eduardo Cunha, in 2015.

Lira, who intended to announce his election, decided to postpone the choice due to indecision in the allied base.
