Lula sanctions Crédito, which grants credit to entrepreneurs

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) sanctioned a bill establishing the First Step.

The program is a federal government initiative that offers lines of credit for small entrepreneurs. The act was published in an extra edition of the Official Gazette of the Union this Thursday (10).

Among the proposals for entrepreneurs foreseen in Crédito is the creation of , which grants credit to MEIs and micro-enterprises.

The program also establishes the , which allows the renegotiation of debts of MEIs, micro-enterprises and small companies with financial institutions. The measure seeks to benefit companies with annual revenue of up to R$4.8 million and debts in arrears for more than three months.

The initiative also makes it possible to grant credit to those registered in the Single Registry (CadÚnico) who wish to start a business or are already starting a business. The population registered in the program can now join Crédito through Banco do Nordeste and Banco da Amazônia.

From MP to project

Believe was created in April, via provisional measure (MP), but was suspended after it lost validity on August 21st.

The project has the same text as the MP. Procred 360 credit operations — carried out by Caixa Econômica Federal and Banco do Brasil — were interrupted with the suspension.
