Lula travels to the USA and Mexico before municipal elections

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) fulfills official agendas abroad before the 2024 municipal elections, scheduled for October 6th. In September, the Chief Executive will travel to New York, in the United States, and to Mexico City, in Mexico.

Lula will participate in the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), held in New York. The meetings are scheduled to be held between September 22nd and 25th. The president is expected to leave for the United States on Saturday (21).

Venezuela

Lula and the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, have been in dialogue to discuss solutions to the electoral crisis in Venezuela, following the presidential elections on July 28. by the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro.

In August, the governments of the three countries published a joint statement, in which they said they were willing to support dialogue and the “search for understanding” in Venezuela.

Venezuela’s electoral authority proclaimed Nicolás Maduro’s victory without showing the results of the electoral records. Maduro’s opposition, led by María Corina, does not recognize the result.
