Lula withdraws from meeting with governors; Rui Costa will lead | Blogs

President Lula gave up on dealing with the fires across the country.

The meeting will be led by the Minister of the Civil House, Rui Costa. The information was confirmed to CNN by the Planalto Palace.

However, according to Lula’s interlocutors, there was fear that a direct meeting with the president could expose him even more in the midst of the environmental and image crisis as the government faces the fires.

Governors have reported, behind the scenes, that the Federal Government did not anticipate the current crisis, despite all the signs that were given, both by scientific data and by the states themselves.

This Wednesday, the CNN revealed a letter from the governor of Amazonas, Wilson Lima (União Brasil), to the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, Marina Silva, of widespread drought. The letter is dated April 3.

There is discomfort among governors, with whom the CNN talked about the line that has been adopted by the government, of allocating part of the money to the states.

As anchor Gustavo Uribe showed, the president intended a quick response to future fires across the country.

By leaving the management to the Civil House, Lula obtains a filter for the governors’ assessments and demands in the midst of the crisis. Instead of meeting with governors, this Thursday (18), the president’s planned agenda is with quilombolas in Maranhão.
