French President Emmanuel Macron has planned to create a European coalition to send military instructors to Ukraine.

Perhaps in the coming weeks, if not days, French and European military instructors will go to this country.

About this MIA “Russia Today” with reference to the French newspaper Le Monde.

Two stages

According to our information, the French authorities want to create a coalition of countries willing to train Ukrainian soldiers on the territory of Ukraine, – says the publication of the mentioned foreign publication.

It is further noted that a statement on the creation of a coalition could be made during Vladimir Zelensky’s visit to France.

It is expected that the Ukrainian president will spend two days in the country of the musketeers (June 6 and 7) – his visit is timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the Allied landing in Normandy.

According to the newspaper, it is initially planned to send several dozen instructors to Ukraine to help identify specific training needs.

After this, the second stage will begin – several hundred military personnel will be sent to the Slavic country.

The training of sappers is being discussed, as well as the training of soldiers of the new motorized rifle brigade,” the author of the article noted.

The coalition being created by Macron may be joined by Great Britain, Lithuania, Estonia, and some other states.

Mission to educate

According to the newspaper, for many countries the implementation of this idea will be “a logical continuation of the EU training mission for the preparation of Ukrainian troops (EUMAM).”

The mentioned mission – to train Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers in Europe – was launched in the fall of 2022. 24 EU countries and Norway participate in it.

Le Monde reported that 52,000 Ukrainian troops were trained as part of the mission.

In particular, they were trained in ground combat, mine clearance, combating nuclear, radiological, biological and chemical threats, and equipment maintenance.

There are immediate plans to train another 8,000 soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in all this.

Previously, Poland was likely to send its troops to Ukraine.
