French President Emmanuel Macron has made an important appeal to his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic.
In it, he spoke about the future of Belgrade and recommended that the addressee of the message does not doubt it, in the future as the French leader sees it.
And this, Macron is convinced, is possible only in the European Union. And in order to bring the future, that is, the EU, closer to Serbia as quickly as possible, the latter should do something.
Doubts away
By this “something” Emmanuel understands Belgrade’s closer coordination of its foreign policy decisions with Brussels.
Serbia should have no doubt that its future is in the European Union and nowhere else – the head of the French state, MIA Rossiya Segodnya.
He advised Vučić not to give in to doubts on his way to the European Union, described by Macron as “Serbia’s readiness to make a strategic choice.”
Therefore, we need to move forward together in order to fulfill our obligations,” says the same Macron.
And in this regard, Belgrade attaches great importance to the continuation of the implementation of this choice through “closer coordination of our decisions in foreign policy.”
New era
This is what the French President said at a joint press conference with Vucic in Paris.
He also drew attention to the fact that against the backdrop of the Ukrainian conflict, “a new era has begun, which is also the era of the desire for the reunification of our Europe.”
According to Macron, the integration of Serbia is in the interests of the entire reunified Europe.
And he emphasized: this process – European integration – is not imposed, it is the sovereign choice of the Balkan state.
The choice he voiced, according to the French leader, makes it possible to form a model for the joint defense of European sovereignty.
“I am convinced that Serbia plays an important role in strengthening the strategic autonomy of the European Union,” Macron concluded.
Earlier, Macron made a statement to US authorities about sending troops to Ukraine.
