French President Emmanuel Macron urgently left the EU summit in Brussels on June 30.

In addition, he canceled a previously planned press conference following this event.

The reason is the ongoing unrest in France, accompanied by clashes with police, arson of buildings and cars, and robberies of stores.

Previously, the media reported that Macron should chair a meeting of the crisis headquarters for the same reason.

And his compatriots have been rampaging since the moment it became known that a police officer had killed a 17-year-old driver who did not obey the demands of the road patrol.

As the TASS agency, citing the BFM television channel, in such cases – the absence of Macron at EU summits – the French leader is replaced by the German Chancellor.

Let us add that, according to the head of the French Ministry of Internal Affairs, 667 people were detained during the riots on June 29 and on the night of June 30.

Media reports that on the night of June 29 alone in France, protesters burned several dozen police cars; they also set fire to commissariats, administrative buildings, and educational institutions.

On the night of June 30, approximately 40,000 police were deployed to quell the unrest.

In some French cities, special forces patrol the streets, armored vehicles and helicopters are used.

Minister Delegate for Housing Policy Olivier Klein said the president could declare a state of emergency.
