Malafaia calls for the arrest of Alexandre Moraes in an event in Paulista: “A criminal’s place is in jail”

Pastor Silas Malafaia defended this Saturday (7) the impeachment and arrest of the minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Morais, in an event attended by the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), among others political leaders.

In a speech on Avenida Paulista, in São Paulo, Malafaia listed a series of alleged crimes committed by Moraes involving actions against Bolsonaro supporters. Among the examples, the pastor cited the fake news inquiry and the minister’s decision to suspend the operations of X (formerly Twitter) in Brazil.

“Alexandre de Moraes must be impeached and go to jail. A criminal’s place is in jail,” said Malafaia.

The pastor also said that he was not “slandering or defaming” the minister, but presenting “the articles of the Constitution that he has torn up”.

The pastor also criticized the other members of the STF by stating that the ministers “are throwing the reputation of the highest Court in the trash can”.

“The Federal Supreme Court is not a brotherhood of friends to protect a criminal friend.”

Act against Moraes

Protesters gathered on Independence Day, on Avenida Paulista, for the act called by Bolsonaro supporters against the STF minister.

The event, organized by pastor Silas Malafaia, was attended by former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), and other right-wing politicians and parliamentarians.

Avenida Paulista was closed to receive the public, who gather in front of the São Paulo Museum of Art (Masp).
