PRTB’s candidate for mayor of São Paulo, Pablo Marçal, returned without disclosing, at least until now, a photo with Salvadoran president Nayib Bukele.
This was the main objective of the trip: to explore images of the meeting on social media. Bukele became one of the most popular presidents in Latin America and an icon of the right, especially for his fight against crime, with a hard-line stance against factions and maximum security prisons.
According to CNN found, if a meeting between Marçal and Bukele took place, the disclosure of records for electoral exploitation in Brazil would not be authorized. Marçal’s campaign makes it a mystery whether or not there actually was a meeting between the two.
During the trip, the candidate managed to meet with the Minister of Justice and Public Security of El Salvador, Gustavo Villatoro, who is responsible for formulating policy in the area.
Marçal’s team received logistical support from the Salvadoran government, with security guards and escort.
