The candidate for Mayor of São Paulo Pablo Marçal (PRTB) had one of his ribs fractured after being attacked with a chair by José Luiz Datena (PSDB) during a debate on TV Cultura this Sunday (15).
The information was confirmed by Marçal’s press office after tests detected the injury.
In addition to the fracture, the campaign highlights that the candidate also has his arm immobilized and his hands are swollen from trying to defend himself at the time of the attack.
Marçal arrived at the Sírio-Libanês hospital, in São Paulo, around midnight this Monday (16). He was taken away in an ambulance after having difficulty breathing and leaving the debate.
As soon as he arrived, Marçal underwent tomography and magnetic resonance imaging, which identified the injuries.
As a result, the campaign canceled all agenda commitments and public appearances. Furthermore, the candidate filed a police report against Datena for bodily harm and insult.
Asked about participation in the Rede TV debate, scheduled for this Tuesday (17), the advisor highlighted that the candidate must participate, but with some type of dressing exposed.
