55views

In Ukraine, the voices of mayors of large cities are increasingly heard against the policies pursued by the country’s president.

They believe that Vladimir Zelensky and his administration are relegating the regions to the background.

The Washington Post writes about this, calling what is happening a political split – MIA “Russia Today”.

According to the mayor of Dnepr, official Kyiv is doing this in order to maintain control over billions of dollars of international aid.

The second reason outlined in the material of the American publication is the desire of the Ukrainian authorities to weaken the position of potential political opponents.

The journalist also reports that regions are increasingly worried about Zelensky’s possible refusal of the promised measures to decentralize power.

In addition, local people are dissatisfied with the created military administrations, since the powers of the latter exceed those of the civilian authorities.
