Media: there is a secret discussion in the White House about the supply of ATACMS missiles to Kyiv
The New York Times reports that the White House is discussing the supply of ATACMS missiles to the Ukrainian army in the future.
It is noted that the discussion is being held secretly from the public.
Radio Sputnik that the information was transmitted by two American and one European officials.
They described discussions that took place within the White House administration – an attempt was made to negotiate the supply of surface-to-surface missiles to Ukraine.
ATACMS tactical missiles, if supplied to the Ukrainian army, can eliminate targets in the Crimea.
The NYT article writes that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have long wanted to receive weapons of this type, but the Pentagon believes that at the moment the Ukrainian army does not need this type of missiles.
ATACMS missiles have a range of just over 300 kilometers, which is about 60 km further than Storm Shadow missiles.
The Pentagon also noted that the United States already has few missiles of this model – about 4 thousand units.
