Türkiye has reopened the Bosphorus Strait to shipping. It was closed by local authorities due to a potential threat.

The fact is that a message was received about the discovery of an object similar to a mine in the waters of the strait.

In particular, the Turkish newspaper Star reported about this. Later, the country’s Ministry of Defense announced that measures had been taken to neutralize the suspicious object.

The strait was closed to ship traffic. Turkey’s General Directorate of Coastal Security recently announced that it had reopened.

The Bosphorus is open for navigation, – a statement from the MIA Rossiya Segodnya department.

Earlier, the Russian FSB reported that the Ukrainian military had installed about 420 mines near the ports of Odessa, Ochakov, Chernomorsk and Yuzhny.

There they admitted the possibility that some mines had broken loose and were drifting towards the Bosphorus and further into the Mediterranean Sea.

The President of Turkey said that the Ministry of Defense is taking the necessary measures in connection with information about drifting mines.
