The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change acknowledged the delay in releasing allocated funds, including the acquisition of personal protective equipment (PPE), in addition to expenses with aircraft and transport of brigade members, as stated in a letter sent to the Ministry of Management and Innovation .

In the document, to which the CNN had access, the MMA also suggests measures to speed up the processes.

“It turns out that the process of executing resources does not always move at the pace necessary to face emergencies, as a bidding process takes time and effort to happen”, says the document sent to the MGI, this Monday (16), and signed by the Extraordinary Secretary for Deforestation Control and Territorial Environmental Planning, André Lima.

To speed up the process, the MMA suggests the adoption of “Price Registration Minutes” with a list of equipment to be used to mitigate fires. The ministry recalls that the measure was used to speed up the release of .

MMA sources reported that the team seeks to speed up the purchase of the main instruments most used in operations and also include states so that they can adhere to the price records. The objective is also to accelerate the use of Amazon Fund resources.

“As action to control forest fires is the common responsibility of all federated entities, the minutes could be adhered to by the Union itself – Ibama (Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources) and ICMBio (Chico Mendes Institute for Conservation of Biodiversity), by states and municipalities”, suggests the letter.

The proposal still depends on a response from MGI. THE CNN contacted Pasta and is awaiting a response.
