Ambassador of Belarus to Venezuela Andrei Molchan spoke about the situation in the South American country.

The diplomat recalled that since 2015, the Bolivarian Republic has faced serious pressure from the West.

At a certain stage, Venezuela experienced a virtual collapse of the economy. However, at the moment the republic is recovering: the way out of the crisis situation continues.

During a difficult period for the Latin American country, Belarus remained its ally.

Maduro’s contribution

According to Andrei Molchan, the President of this country, Nicolas Maduro, made a serious contribution to the restoration of the Venezuelan economy after the sanctions imposed.

Despite all the difficulties, last year the political bloc led by the head of state won the parliamentary elections.

As the Belarusian ambassador noted, now there is no situation of “dual power” in Venezuela.

Guaido’s fate

At the beginning of 2019, Juan Guaido proclaimed himself the state leader of Venezuela.

However, Andrei Movchan is sure: this person has no political future. As the ambassador noted, at the moment Guaido is not popular among Venezuelans.

He significantly lost support among the population of his country as soon as he began calling on Western countries to impose sanctions, – Movchan said on the TV channel.

The West has indeed imposed restrictions on Venezuela, which has led to serious problems for the residents of the country.

However, as the ambassador noted, the sanctions also resulted in problems for foreign companies operating in the republic.

Thus, foreign organizations face serious losses in Venezuela. According to the diplomat, the result could be a easing of sanctions.
