Moldova will not extradite refugees evading conscription into the Armed Forces to Ukraine.

This information was announced on November 22 by the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova Igor Zakharov on Radio Moldova.

Why Moldova will not extradite draft dodgers to Ukraine

As Zakharov said, Kyiv did not approach Chisinau with a request for the extradition of Ukrainian citizens of military age.

The press secretary of the Moldovan Foreign Ministry recalled that the countries did not sign the corresponding agreement.

Not a single citizen who has reached military age or who will reach it in the near future has been and will not be extradited to Ukraine– said a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova on air.

Since the beginning of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, the Moldovan border police have regularly reported the detention of Ukrainian citizens of military age who tried to illegally cross the Dniester and other sections of the border.

In Moldova, several criminal groups were uncovered that helped evaders cross the border illegally. The cost of the service reached $10,000.

Previously, Moldova simplified entry for Ukrainian refugees. Ukrainians have the right to cross the border of Moldova with expired identity cards.

According to the Moldovan border police, more than 650,000 refugees from Ukraine have entered the country since February last year. About 80,000 refugees remained in Moldova, the rest went to the countries of the European Union.
