On April 4, Finland officially became a member of the North Atlantic Alliance.

This was announced by the head of the Polish government, Mateusz Morawiecki, on Twitter.

What Morawiecki said about Finland joining NATO

The Polish Prime Minister announced that Finland has officially become a member of NATO and that the organization now includes 31 countries.

According to Morawiecki, a strong NATO is a guarantee of security for Poland, the region and the whole world.

Finland is now in NATO. Congratulations! From today, the alliance includes 31 countries. Strong partners are a guarantee of security for Poland, the region and the whole world, – Morawiecki wrote.

Let us recall that yesterday NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced that Finland would officially become a member of the organization at a meeting of the foreign ministers of the alliance countries in Brussels.

Finland’s path to NATO

Finland applied to join the alliance in May last year along with Sweden.

Türkiye initially opposed it, but later softened its position and ratified Finland’s application.

Sweden’s entry into the alliance was complicated after the Koran burning event in Stockholm.
