The head of the Polish government, Mateusz Morawiecki, denied information about Warsaw’s plans to transfer German Leopard tanks to Ukraine.
According to the Polish Prime Minister, the country does not intend to transfer Leopard tanks to Ukraine without a broad coalition.
Morawiecki made this statement at a briefing on January 7, reports.
Why Poland doesn’t want to give up tanks
Commenting on the publication of the American edition of The Wall Street Journal, which, with reference to a high-ranking Polish diplomat, reported that Poland had decided to share German tanks with Ukraine, Morawiecki said that without a broad coalition there would be no transfer of tanks.
We do not intend to hand over our next tanks ourselves yet. Poland itself is not going to transfer without a broad coalition, – said the head of the Polish government.
According to Morawiecki, Warsaw is currently negotiating the formation of a broad coalition of countries that will supply Kyiv with heavy weapons. This issue is being discussed, in particular, with Germany.
